It is based on the language education system of the internationally respected and recognised Discovery , Oxford and Cambridge universities. Under this system, English is taught in a structure of 5 core levels – Beginner, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate and Upper-Intermediate – followed by special programmes such as TOEFL, “Business Class” and “Sector-Specific Business English”.
At the grammar-focused beginner levels, our best Turkish teachers teach, while at the speaking-focused advanced levels, native English-speaking foreign teachers take over. Listening, comprehension, speaking, reading, writing, grammar and visual activities are taught as an integrated whole.
In General English courses, each level is completed in 90 hours. Students are assessed with quizzes after every 4 units; gaps are identified and filled with extra or step-by-step lessons. In this way, students reach the end of the level with no gaps. Students who cannot move up to the next level, provided their absence does not exceed 10%, repeat the same level at no extra cost.

Levels (Courses)

Effective English education is possible by placing students in classes at the right level. After a detailed placement test at British Institute, students are placed in the classes that suit them best. As in serious language schools in America and the UK, our school applies an Education System made up of 5 stages in total. Those who complete the five levels can continue with TOEFL lessons.
Each level consists of 90 hours. An exam is held at the end of each section throughout the level.

British Institute , in the event that students do not pass, grants a “right to repeat the course at no extra cost” to those whose absence does not exceed 10% and who have fully completed their assignments.

All of our teaching staff hold degrees and are made up of foreign and Turkish teachers. Teachers' CVs are examined and checked in detail. In addition, there are academic directors responsible for the teaching in each department. The success of a language school does not depend on this alone; its Turkish staff must also be carefully selected. Every request and problem of our students is handled one to one, because for us the most valuable reference is our graduates.

A1 Level (Beginner)

Students who want to complete the preparatory course work on grammar, listening, vocabulary and reading with their teacher.
At the end of the course: Students can talk to foreigners about simple topics, write paragraphs, and read and understand easy topics.

A2 Level ( Elementary )

For students who have completed the required content of the basic level and can speak English to a certain degree.
At the end of the course: Students can easily communicate with foreigners in everyday conversations, build complex sentences and write texts with meaningful paragraphs.

B1 Level ( Pre-Intermediate )

For students who have completed the required content of the pre-intermediate level and can speak English fluently and consciously within certain limits.
At the End of the Course: Students can have long conversations with foreigners on many different topics, write texts using complex sentences and easily understand what they read.

B2 Level (Upper-Intermediate)
For students who have completed the required content of the intermediate level and can speak English fluently and consciously to a certain degree.
At the End of the Course: Students can have long conversations with foreigners on many different topics, build long meaningful sentences, and read and understand original books.

C1 Level (Advanced)
For students who have completed the required content of the upper-intermediate level and can use English well.
At the End of the Course: Students can talk and debate with foreigners on any topic. They have no problems communicating.

Success Guarantee

British Institute; if students do not pass their end-of-level exams, it gives them the chance to repeat as many lesson hours as they need at no extra charge. (For this to apply, the student's absence must not exceed 10% and their homework must be fully completed.)

Placement Test

A Placement Test is given to students applying for the first time, or registered students who have taken a long break, to make sure they receive effective teaching and are placed in classes suited to their level. It consists of 68 multiple-choice questions, focused on grammar and reading and ordered from easy to difficult. For the final assessment, a Speaking Test lasting a maximum of 10 minutes is given.
Level durations vary between 1.5 and 6 months depending on the intensity of the programme. In this system, one level lasts 106 hours. There are 14 different programme options, including weekday mornings, weekday midday (Economy Programme), weekday evenings, weekend mornings and weekend afternoons. Course books are provided to students by our language school when the class starts, included in the course. To move up to the next level and assess their progress, our students take a total of 3 exams at the end of each section. The target average is 70%. The student's participation in class, attendance and unit test grades all count towards this.

Learn to “Speak” English!

British Institute,
assumes that in the classic, teacher-centred classroom system based on rote learning that is widely used in language teaching, the teacher is the person who prepares and presents the lesson, explains the rules, corrects students' grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and similar mistakes and takes up most of the lesson time, while the student does not get enough opportunity to practise and is left memorising information about the language.

In contrast, British Institute is entirely student-centred: in a multimedia environment, without worrying about making mistakes and at their own pace, students see, hear and read, and by constantly practising with a variety of exercises they turn the language into a habit and a skill. At British Institute, with the teacher's guidance and support, students reinforce what they learn, easily understand what is said and speak without hesitation.

The world's language authorities agree that, to learn “to speak the language” rather than grammar rules as in the classic system, people should study when they feel ready and when they want to, in a system where they – not the teachers – are the active ones.

Linguists state that knowing a language is a skill, and that a teacher can give information about the language but cannot teach it on their own. They emphasise that, to acquire a ‘language skill’, a person needs enough practice as with any other skill. In short, a teacher and, above all, a practice environment are essential – like an instrument for music, a court for basketball, a pool for swimming or a flight environment for pilots. For language, multimedia means the same thing.

The British Institute education module is also active, because learners constantly encounter different questions, situations and characters. From time to time songs and games are played, and all of this is part of foreign language education.
